From American Memory from the Library of Congress, you can search for "muskrat" and find, among other things, links to the entire book The Lay of the Land by Dallas Lore Sharp, published in 1908.  The first section is titled "The Muskrats Are Building" and it has more than several occurrences of the word "muskrat".

You can search for books about muskrat at Yahoo! Shopping, Amazon.com, and Barnes & Noble (and other places as they sprout up on the web).

Biology

Environment Canada's Green Lane and the regional Green Lane sites listed below mostly have some search capability.  If you're poking around these sites, you might want to be aware that many migratory bird sanctuaries harbor muskrat, too.

If you do a search for "muskrat" from Environment Canada: Search Page from The Canada Centre for Inland Waters (CCIW), you'll find many pages containing the word "muskrat".  [Note that the Ontario Region's Environment Canada-Green Lane site is hosted on the same server as CCIW.  Also be aware that I've already included the page on which I found the most information about muskrats; it's on my Biology - Government Web Pages page.]

You'll find many pages for muskrat (in French) if you do a search for "Le rat musqué" or "Les rats musqués" from the search (Recherche) page off of l'ÉcoRoute de l'information[I didn't recognize any as giving much information specifically about muskrat, though.]

The Parks Canada site has many references to muskrat on it.  Mostly, you'll find parks in which muskrat is listed among the many animals found there.

A search from Canadian Sustainable Forestry Certification Coalition has many more hits for pages in French (using "le rat musqué") than for pages in English (using "muskrat").

You can search all the forums at The Nature.Net Forums for information about muskrat.

Humor

From American Memory from the Library of Congress, you can search for "A. J. Howell" and find an interview from the late 1930's of carpenter A. J. Howell of Oswego, Oregon {described as "WPA Life Hist [Early Reminiscences] (21,804 bytes)"}.  He tells of an incident of "fish-hawks catchin' muskrats".

Music

Searching for "Muskrat" yielded 310 matching CDs from CDDB Server. when I looked at it.

A search for "Muskrat" on 2000-Feb-25 at MP3.com found one artist (Scoundrel Muskrat) and two songs ("Muskrat" by Dwight Diller - bluegrass, and "Muskrat Ramble" by The Rob Wright Dixieland Showband - Jazz).

A search for muskrat at the Tunes Network will find songs titled "Muskrat".

A search for "muskrat" at jpc - Music à la carte found 312 hits on 2001-Jul-15.

A search for "muskrat" at NetStoreUSA.com sheet music resulted in 4 hits for "Muskrat Love" and 22 hits for "Muskrat Ramble".

The GeoNames search feature of Canadian Geographical Names/Les noms géographiques du Canada is fun.  Try searches for Muskrat* and for Musquash*.  (Musquash is the Algonquian word from which muskrat is derived.)
