Terry was supposed to be named "Avonlea Comedy of Terrors" until Ann heard the name. We were already used to calling him "Terry" so that stuck and we came up with the new name (which we do love).

We are certainly enjoying our first Malinois: he is so full of energy and willingness.
We borrowed our motto from Mario Andretti:

"If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough."

The pictures above are from a CPE Trial in the fall of 2007. Terry started his CPE agility off with a bang: one weekend, 8 Q's in level 1 leading to the complete CL1 (or the 4 titles: CL1-R, CL1-H, CL1-S, CL1-F). (Thanks to Charlene Wigglesworth for the pix!)

Terry continues to delight us with his agility prowess. He blasted through his AKC standard titles -- there is, after all, a stop on every contact. The jumpers titles came more slowly, they require almost perfect timing and coordination between handler and dog. We're learning together and continue to improve. In early 2008, Terry won an Open Jumper's run going 6.2 yards/second. WOW!

We're very greatful to patient friends Andrea and Kathy for their help and advice. We have also profited from a rich seminar schedule which includes Ann Braue whenever possible.

...the other stuff...

At just shy of 12 months, Terry earned his TD at the Greater Lansing OTC test. I knew it would be an 'exciting' track when he passed the second flag a good 8 feet down wind. It was by far the hardest TD I have ever exhibited but I was so proud of Terry for not quitting and working through the problems. The picture below shows him cruising along on one of the legs.

Terry earned his AKC championship in just five shows at 18 months of age. He started off slowly, with a second place in Open Dogs and then took the points in his next four shows: 4,4,4,3. The photo below was taken by Karen Johnson at that time -- reproduced with permission (thanks, Karen!).

...puppy stuff...

I took Terry to a Denise Fenzi seminar when he was three months old. He was completely darling and had a wonderful time.

Puppy tracking is lots of fun!
