Me Crazy, UDT, MX, AXJ Hamish
(CH & OTCH Artful Dodger of Anduin, UDX, TDX, HT) |
At the Wisconsin Regional, I heard that Hamish would be bred to Helen Hittesdorf's Pony. It seemed like I had admired Hamish forever and I jumped on the phone to Helen to convince her I would make a wonderful owner for one of her Hamish x Pony puppies. Eventually the litter was ready. My son, Matt, (then 14) and I jumped in the car and drove to Colorado to pick up seven week old Carlin. The name "Jamaica Me Crazy" was suggested by Helen and I loved it! Carlin (from George Carlin, of course) has had almost as many compliments on his name as on his work.
And work he does! An unfortunate bite kept him out of the conformation ring but he really lights up the obedience rings!
- Well short of his second birthday, Carlin earned his CD with scores: 198, 198 and 198.5
- From Novice, Carlin earned his first HIT with a 199.5 on March 28, 1999 at Companion DTC under Bernie Brown
- At the 1999 ABTC National Specialty, Carlin won first place in Novice B
- Carlin finished his CDX with all scores in the 190's including an insurance leg of 198.5
- Carlin also earned his UD in 1999, finishing with a 196 and third place in Utility B
- 1999 #1 Obedience Tervurn (ABTC system)
- Carlin continued to shine in 2000 earning 15 OTCH points including an Open B first and Utility B first
- At the 2000 Wisconsin Regional Specialty Carlin was HIT
- At the 2003 ABTC National, Carlin was First in Versatility and a member of the first place Obedience Team
- Multiple Placings in AKC Top 25 Obedience Tervuren (2003 tied for 12th)
- OTCH pointed every year from 2000 to 2005
We did a bit of agility when Carlin was five or six and then put it away. Carlin hadn't learned how to weave -- although that didn't stop him from earning his NA and NAJ with all Q's and first or second placings.
Then things changed a bit a Beeken and we started getting serious with Ringer's agility. It seemed to me that Carlin would enjoy another chance.
At the 2005 national, Carlin earned three open legs and placed first, second and third. There was no looking back. He spent the summer finishing up his Open titles and going after Excellent legs. By fall, Carlin had his AX and AXJ: we were in the B classes with the big boys. As the photo shows, Carlin learned to weave!
As Carlin turned 10, we continued to exhibit and earned his MX in the summer of 2006. We ran out of time for the MXJ but did enjoy a little Rally.
We lost Carlin to the gastric cancer which has been such a heartbreaker for the Belgian fancy.
